Dr. Clay Siegall Shares His Passion For Sports On His Blog

Dr. Clay Siegall uses his blog to expose people to news about science and sports. In NFL news, he posted some recent items such as that Ben Roethlisberger, the quarterback for the Pittsburg Steelers, doesn’t think Head Coach Mike Tomlin is to blame for the team failing to reach the playoffs. He thinks that his team just didn’t execute the game plan very well. He also posted news that the New Orleans Saints are looking to bring their quarterback Drew Brees back but they haven’t started up negotiations yet.

In other NFL news, Dr. Clay Siegall brought up a report that another quarterback, Derek Carr of the Oakland Raiders, didn’t even know that the new coach was going to be Jon Gruden until he read a news article about it on ESPN. He also posted that the New England Patriots Tight End Rob Gronkowski was diagnosed with a concussion after he was hit helmet to helmet in a play in the conference championship. Whether he will be able to play in the Super Bowl isn’t yet known.

Seattle Genetics in Bothell, Washington (a suburb of Seattle) was co-founded by Dr. Clay Siegall in 1988. The company, which researches drugs to cure cancer, has been named one of the top 25 in the biotechnology industry. His company has many exciting drugs in the pipeline and a few years ago released their first one, Adcetris, which cures two forms of lymphoma. His passion is for creating targeted cancer therapies which he believes will be the only way that cancer will be treated in the not so distant future.

Since he has such good leadership skills and a grasp of cancer research Dr. Clay Siegall has been sought out to be on the boards of other companies in the industry. As such he is on the board for three other companies, which are Alder Biopharmaceuticals, Ultragenyx Pharmaceutical, and Mirna Therapeutics, Inc. Dr. Clay Siegall got his undergraduate degree in zoology, at the University of Maryland, and attended The George Washington University to get his Doctor of Philosophy in Genetics.
